Sophie Turner gives one of the strongest performances in the series. Zara is not portrayed as a traditional action hero. She is an ordinary person suddenly trapped in an extraordinary and dangerous situation, which makes her reactions more believable. Turner successfully captures Zara’s fear and vulnerability while gradually revealing a more determined and resourceful side to the character. Critics have particularly praised Turner’s ability to keep Zara convincing even as the plot becomes increasingly complicated
Archie Madekwe also delivers a strong performance as Luke, Zara’s colleague and close friend. Their relationship provides an important emotional element as both characters deal with the psychological consequences of the robbery. Jacob Fortune-Lloyd brings a different energy as DCI Rhys Covac, whose investigation gradually uncovers connections extending far beyond a straightforward workplace robbery.
One of Steal’s greatest strengths is its opening. The invasion of Lochmill Capital immediately creates tension and establishes the enormous stakes involved. Instead of ending the story once the thieves escape, however, the series concentrates heavily on the aftermath. Zara faces increasing pressure while the investigation reveals that the situation is much more complicated than it initially appeared.
